Hello Soul Family!

The tradition of dressing in costume for Halloween has both European and Celtic roots. Hundreds of years ago, winter was a frightening time. Food was scarce and many people were afraid of the dark. They believed that on Halloween, ghosts came back to Earth.

To avoid ghosts, people would wear masks when they left their homes after dark so that the ghosts would mistake them for fellow spirits. People also placed food outside their homes to appease the ghosts.

Mexicans celebrate November 1st thru 5th as the "Days of the Dead" to honor deceased relatives and friends. They set places at the dinner table, and light candles to help loved ones find their way back to the spirit world.

Today's Halloween ghosts are often depicted as more fearsome and malevolent and our customs and superstitions are scarier too. Remember, whenever you feel the need create a barrier of protection around your body that helps keep out negative energy. Simply create a column of White Light that extends into Mother Earth at one end and deep into the Cosmos at the other. Then place yourself inside the White Light.

I love you all,
